One Act of Kindness
Can Change a Life.
Illuminating Kindness is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering compassion, inclusion, and positivity in schools and communities. Founded by Aila Joy Macarulay, the organization was inspired by her experiences moving from the Philippines to the U.S., where she saw firsthand the profound impact that kindness can have in creating a sense of belonging.
After witnessing the heartbreak of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) school shooting in her community, Aila felt compelled to take action—turning pain into purpose by spreading kindness wherever possible.
"At Illuminating Kindness, we believe kindness shouldn’t be an afterthought; it should be the foundation of how we treat one another."
By making kindness the norm, not the exception, we can create safer, more connected communities where everyone feels valued, supported, and seen.
Why Kindness Matters

Kindness is more than just a nice gesture—it has the power to transform lives and communities. A simple act of compassion can spark a chain reaction, creating a ripple effect that reaches far beyond what we can see.

At Illuminating Kindness, we believe that no act of kindness is too small. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, sharing an encouraging word, or standing up for someone in need, these moments shape the way we connect with one another. By making kindness a habit, not an exception, we can build a world where everyone feels valued, included, and empowered to do the same for others.
